Department of Electrical Engineering

Although ”Electrical Engineering” is considered a relatively modern branch of engineering, in just over a century, it has found the broadest applications among all engineering disciplines. Today, it is rare to find a device, component, or system without electrical or electronic parts. At the undergraduate level, the program is offered as “Electrical Engineering” (without specifying a specialization) in the university entrance exam guide, and students also graduate with a degree titled “Electrical Engineering” (without specialization). However, to determine specialized and elective courses, students are required to implicitly select a specialization according to the curriculum from the third year onward. In most Iranian universities, Electrical Engineering is divided into four main fields:

  •  Telecommunications
  •  Power
  •  Electronics
  •  Control

Additionally, Biomedical Engineering (Bioelectric) and Digital Systems are offered in some universities The Electrical Engineering program at Ardakan University commenced in 2015 and has witnessed significant growth and development since then. Currently, only the Electronics specialization is offered at the undergraduate level at this university. It is hoped that with the recruitment of additional faculty members and the establishment of laboratory and workshop spaces in the coming years, other specializations will also be added to this program.
The main research activities of the faculty members currently focus on statistical signal processing, the application of various machine learning and deep learning methods for signal processing, vital signal processing and their applications in disease diagnosis and treatment, speech processing, image processing, semiconductor device simulation, power electronics, construction of various power supplies and their industrial applications, industrial automation, protection and relay systems, and more.
Although the establishment of the Electrical Engineering Department at Ardakan University is relatively recent, thanks to the university administration’s policies and emphasis on providing high-quality education, the department has been able to allocate considerable resources to equip and launch the necessary laboratories and workshops. This is essential for meeting students’ needs in acquiring industry-relevant skills, significantly enhancing the quality of education, and helping Ardakan University fulfill its mission to become a comprehensive, skill-based, and entrepreneurial university.
Currently, the department has 6 faculty members actively engaged in academic and scientific activities.
